Amelia Tovey is a writer and director based on Gadigal Land whose work includes award-winning campaign ads, commercials and documentaries. She has built a career uplifting social movements and cultural moments. Her short documentaries have exhibited internationally and featured in the New York Times. As Senior Creative Producer at Blue State Digital she worked on landmark campaigns for marriage equality, and the Obama Foundation. Amelia’s documentary It Starts With Us featuring Rosie Batty premiered on ABC TV in August 2025.
Amelia is currently writing and directing a feature documentary commissioned by ZDF/Arte called Saving Tuvalu. The project is the first collaboration with co-director Kate Blackmore, and is being produced by Media Stockade (ASU) and Filmtank (DE). The film is supported by Screen Australia, Screen NSW, Shark Island Institute and Bright Moon Trust. Production begins May 2026.
